Enock Mwepu is a renowned former Zambian professional football player. He used to play as a midfielder in the Premier League club known as Brighton & Hove Albion and in the Zambian national team before his retirement he made on 10th October 2022 due to medical advice following his heart conditions which forced him to retire at 24.

Mwepu joined the premier league club on 6th July 2021 after signing a 4-year contract whose fee is yet to get disclosed. He joined Brighton from Red Bull Salzburg, where he played together with his long-time friend, Patson Daka, who is also his teammate in the Zambian National Team.

Enock Mwepu has had a successful career, having begun his career at Kafue Celtic, after which he later joined Airtel Rising Stars, Power Dynamos, NAPSA Stars, Red Bull Salzburg and in Liefering. Enock Mwepu Football Career Retirement

Enock Mwepu’s retirement from football both from international football as well as club football came on 10th August 2022 after he announced that he made a decision to hang up his boots in football.

He however, noted that it was not the end of his involvement in football as he would get involved in other capacities save appearance as a player.

From the statement, Enock Mwepu noted the following;

A boy from a small Zambian township called Chambishi has some news to share. He stood strong to follow his dream of playing football at the highest level, and by the grace of God he lived his dream by reaching the Premier League.

Some Dreams however come to an end, so it is with sadness that I announce the need to hang up my boots because of the medical advice I have received. This is however not the end of my involvement with football, I plan to stay involved in some capacity.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that supported me in my football journey, including my wife and family, my agent 12MAN, the Zambian FA, all my previous clubs, team-mates and coaches and especially everyone at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Early Life and Biography

Enock Mwepu was born on 1st January 1998 in Lusaka, Zambia. His real name is Enock Mwepu though he has been mainly known through his nickname ‘The Computer’. His father is known as Robby Mwepu, who worked in several copper-mining companies. Nevertheless, his parents are currently farmers back in his native land. Only one of his siblings has been known by the name Francisco Mwepu who is also a professional footballer.

During his early life, he moved from Lusaka, his birthplace, and went to the town of Chambishi, Kitwe in Zambia, which was the mining town where his father used to work at.

He got the nickname ‘The Computer’ from his friends due to being a genius in all his moves. Before acting and making a move on his gameplay, he usually thinks and then makes a genius action. As a result, this has always made him be one of the best midfielders in every team he has played for.

Education

Enock Computer Mwepu did his studies at Chambishi Primary School from the year 2003. He had his studies from Grade 1 to Grade 9 in the same school. During this time, he commenced having an interest in football and would represent his school in several competitions.

Enock Mwepu continued with his studies by joining Chambishi Secondary School, located in the same area where his father used to work at. Mwepu joined his high school in the year 2012 and completed his studies in the year 2014 on his grade 12.

No, Enock Mwepu is not gay. He is of a straight sexual orientation. He is a married man who is happily married to his partner known as Matilda Mwepu. He has had no rumors regarding having any affairs with other guys or with other ladies. He has remained faithful to his wife, and they are happily married and staying together.

Professional Career

Mwepu commenced his professional career in his hometown, through which he played for the Chambishi Rising and Youth Academy. He played to this club while he was pursuing his high school studies, after which he then moved to Kafue Celtic in the 2014-15 season. He got spotted by the 2013 Airtel Rising Stars, where he started his professional career on a high note.

In the year 2014, Enock Mwepu joined the Zambia U17 National team following his amazing performance, which saw him get identified by the 2013 Airtel Rising Stars. With this, he represented his country in matches against Niger, Nigeria and Guinea on qualifications.

In the 2015-16 season, he played with the Dynamos football club of Copperbelt, which saw him get signed by the NAPSA Stars during the end of the 2016 season. His gameplay could never be ignored as it was an exceptional one compared to his mates.

Mwepu got featured in the AFCON Qualifiers in the year 2017, whereby he also got his first goal for Zambia in the match against Algeria on 2nd September 2017. During the tournament, he became one of the best players to have amazing performance as well as becoming one of the best substitutes.

Enock Mwepu got signed to Red Bull Salzburg in June 2017, where he joined his longtime friend known as Patson Daka, who is also his National teammate. The Computer’s contract got extended on 18th December 2019 with the RB Salzburg, where it was to run to the year 2024. He got many achievements in RB Salzburg, where he commenced being featured in the starting 11 squad. Following this, Mwepu had his first appearance on 2nd October 2019 in the UEFA Champions League on the match against Liverpool. RB Salzburg, however, lost on a 4-3 on this match.

Mwepu continued being featured in the first team of RB Salzburg, following his amazing gameplay as a central and attacking midfielder. During his stay in RB Salzburg, he made 81 league appearances and scored 11 goals. In addition to this, he also contained 9 assist all through his career at RB Salzburg.
