Maina Kageni is a renowned Kenyan Radio Host who has gained much popularity through being featured in the Classic 105 radio station breakfast show known as ‘Maina and King’ang’i in the Morning.’ He runs the show together with Mwalimu King’ang’i, who is mainly known as Daniel Churchill Ndambuki. Daniel Churchill has most of his popularity for running the Churchill show aired on NTV Kenya.

Maina Kageni was born on 29th June in the year 1974 who was born in Nairobi, Kenya. He got raised by his single mother after his father passed on at a tender age. Together he was raised with his other two siblings; 1 sister and one brother, whereby Maina was the lastborn in the family. His mother used to work with the United Nations (UN) but later joined her own business after his father passed on.
Despite his father passing on at his tender age, Maina Kageni got a father figure in S.K. Macharia, The CEO of the Royal Media Services. Maina Kageni was a nephew to S.K. Macharia and hence got much of his support as a father figure in him since his tender age. Furthermore, his aunt played a big role in raising him with his mother during his early childhood.
He claims that his childhood life wasn’t troublesome as he got provided anything he needed. However, she got much encouragement from his mother to do what best he wanted without any coercion.

In his education, Maina Kageni commenced his studies in Westlands Primary School and later joined Laiser Hill Academy. While in Laiser Hill Academy, he used to be a part of the Drama Club, whereby he, at one time, became the best actor at the National Level.

With no time, he had the license on which he commenced fish distribution for Chinese companies.
Later, he commenced exporting cars from the UK to Kenya. His acting voice commenced after he joined a voice-over to book ads just because of the pay. Following his amazing voice, he was absorbed by Capital FM as a Sports Presenter. Later, he was given a Sunday Afternoon Show, whereby he was a swing shift presenter for filling in the shows.
He then joined Nation FM, where he joined as a Main presenter. This was the time while Nation FM was being introduced in the market. Later, he was offered a big switch by Patrick Kwako to join Kiss 100 FM. He was offered a salary of Kshs 380,000. He got much success in Kiss 100 FM though he later decided to join Classic 105, following much pressure claiming that Kiss 100 was the reason for his success. Following this, he has seen the growth of Classic 105 from its humble beginning. His show has had a great following which he now currently runs with Mwalimu King’ang’i
