TB Joshua was a renowned Nigerian Televangelist, Charismatic Pastor, and philanthropist born on 12th June 1963 and passed on 5th June 2021. He was the founder and the leader of Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN). The megachurch also runs s renowned television station known as Emmanuel TV situated in Lagos, Nigeria. Biography, Early Life and Death

TB Joshua was born on 12th June 1963, and he disclosed that unusual circumstances surrounded his back. He spent 15 months in his mother’s womb, and seven days after his birth, he narrowly escaped death after a quarry explosion near their house sent a rock through the roof of their home. It was also disclosed that his birth was prophesied 100 years before his birth.

TB Joshua passed on 5th June 2021 after a Saturday service. He had complained of feeling unwell and went to his house to rest, but several men from the church became concerned and checked on him and found him dead. The cause of his death is yet to be known. It was one week to his 58th birthday.

Education

Joshua did not come from a well-up family, and thus he struggled a lot to receive educations. While attending St, Stephen’s Anglican Primary School in Arigidi Akoko, he was nicknamed Balogun Francis. He completed his primary education in 1977. He did not complete one year of his secondary education due to financial problems.

In school, he was called “Small Pastor” for his love of the Bible. He used to work various casual jobs like carrying chicken waste in a nearby poultry farm to pay his school fees. He used to organize bible studies for children and later attended evening school. His attempt to join the Nigerian military was cut short due to a training breakdown, and he was left stranded in the military academy.

The second time was successful, and after talking for some time, the man of God proposed to her in the Yoruba language.

Before he began his church, Joshua wrote that he had received a covenant and divine anointing from God to start ministering. He founded the Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), which was attended by more than 15 000 members every Sunday. There were also visitors from outside Nigeria who would be accommodated in the accommodation blocks build in the church.

His church was “Nigeria’s biggest tourist attraction,” which was the most visited destination by religious tourists from West Africa. His contribution to Nigerian religious tourism was highly noted when he hinted at relocating his ministry to Israel during a Sunday service. The announcement proved controversial after several prominent Nigerians urged him to rain in Nigeria and even cited economic setbacks.

SCOAN is involved in occurrences of divine miracles, and hundreds of Nigerians and international visitors visited the church every Sunday for prayers by Joshua. He claimed to heal incurable diseases like HIV/AIDS, blindness, and even open wounds. The healings at SCOAN have been the subject of various media reports, including Time magazine, Associated Press interview, and an article on Foreign Policy. Others claimed to be healed through anointing water which Joshua prayed.

He was also known for the deliverance of the people who are possessed by evil spirits. Some of these deliverances include healing a South African girl who cried blood and a young Liberian man who behaved like a dog. Another young man was delivered from a homosexual demon. He also delivered celebrity from spiritual problems. Kwabla Sentamu, a Ghanian human rights lawyer, is one of them. Another one was Denise Williams, a Ghanian musician, and Camilla Mberekpe, a Nigerian Nollywood actress.
