Musonda signed a contract extension until 2019 on 5 March 2015, after already being a regular with the club’s under-21 team.

He drew interest from French clubs Monaco and Olympique de Marseille in the summer, following his success in the UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup.

Charly requested to leave the club in December due to a lack of opportunities during the first half of the 2015–16 season.

He turned down a loan move from Standard Liège in January 2016.

Musonda signed a season-long loan deal with La Liga side Real Betis on January 29, 2016, with no option to make the move permanent.  When he made his professional debut, he was named Man of the Match in a 1-0 win over Valencia at home on February 7th. Six days later, Musonda equalized in a 2–2 draw with Deportivo La Corua for his first professional goal.   Musonda’s Real Betis loan was extended for the 2016–17 season on June 22. Musonda returned to Chelsea on January 1st, 2017, with just one start to his name under Gus Poyet’s tutelage.

Seasons 2016–17 and 2017–18

Real Betis confirmed on January 1st, 2017, that Chelsea had summoned the Belgian back to London.

Because Blues manager Antonio Conte was unsure whether or not Musonda would be loaned out, many clubs in Europe, including Roma, expressed interest.

Nevertheless, Antonio Conte confirmed after the January transfer window closed that Nathan Aké, Kenedy, and Musonda would remain at Chelsea for the remainder of the 2016–17 season in a press conference following Chelsea’s 1–1 away draw with Liverpool.   After 84 minutes against Arsenal in the 2017 FA Community Shield, Musonda made his Chelsea debut, coming on as a substitute. [19] On September 20, 2017, he started his first game for the club in the EFL Cup against Nottingham Forest, scoring the club’s third goal in a 5–1 win.

Celtic

Musonda joined Celtic on a season-long loan on 29 January 2018.

The following day, he made his Celtic Park debut, scoring three goals in a 3–1 win over Heart of Midlothian.

In the first leg of the Europa League round of 32 against Zenit St Petersburg in February, he assisted Callum McGregor on his goal.

Due to Musonda’s lack of playing time at Celtic, the loan agreement was terminated in May 2018.

Having missed out on a place in Chelsea’s 23-man squad ahead of the Premier League season, Musonda re-joined Eredivisie side Vitesse on a season-long loan on 31 August 2018 (transfer deadline day).
